What is Q-Sync?

Q-Sync is a system designed to distribute Q-data textual data points and images stored in Q-storage to hotel distribution platforms such as OTAs, GDSs, metasearch engines, and similar channels.

How does Q-Sync work for OTAs and GDSs?

Q-Sync synchronizes the data stored in Q-data and Q-storage into a dedicated page called a Directory. This Directory is made available to connected distributors, which then retrieve the hotel’s information at their own chosen frequency.

Which distributors are updated through Q-Sync?

Below is the list of distributors currently connected to Q-Sync via the dedicated URL list.

Why don’t distributors retrieve all information, and why do they update at different frequencies?

Not all distributors have APIs that allow full or frequent content updates. As a result, content update limitations are imposed by the distributors themselves, and we have no ability to modify these constraints. That said, additional distributors may be progressively added to the Q-Sync scope over time.

Why does the update frequency vary between distributors?

Each distributor independently decides how often it refreshes hotel content. They determine their own update frequency, and we have no control over it.
Depending on the distributor, updates may occur in near real time, multiple times per day, weekly, or even monthly.

Why is there no update frequency displayed for some distributors?

Some distributors are connected to Q-Sync and have their data points properly mapped, but they choose not to disclose their update frequency. In most cases, this is because updates are performed on a non-deterministic or random schedule.

Where should I update my information once Q-Sync is activated?

Once Q-Sync is activated, it is essential to update all information exclusively in Q-data and Q-storage. When this feature is enabled, Quinta becomes the single source of truth for all connected distributors. Any changes made directly in a distributor’s extranet will be overwritten the next time the distributor synchronizes with Q-Sync data.

What is a channel?

A channel refers to an OTA, tour operator, bed bank, GDS, meta, ITS, CRS, metasearch engine, or travel agency. The full list of channels is available here:

https://console.quinta.im/channel/distribution

When will my content be updated on the channels?

Once your content is updated in Quinta, it is immediately available in the directory. However, each channel retrieves and updates content according to its own schedule. You can review the update frequency for each channel in the “Content Sent” section.

Why is the “Content Sent” section empty for some channels?

If “Content Sent” is empty, it means the channel is using your content but does not provide information about when or how frequently it retrieves updates.

Why is my hero image not displayed on some channels?

Q-Sync distributes data and images to all connected channels. However, some platforms (such as Tripadvisor) apply their own algorithms to select images based on user search behavior and relevance. As a result, your designated hero image may not always be displayed.

Why is tagging important?

Tags help channels correctly categorize and index images in their databases. Similar to SEO, adding detailed and relevant metadata improves image visibility and increases the likelihood of appearing in relevant searches.

Can I activate Q-Sync and configure Q-data or Q-storage later?

No. Once Q-Sync is activated, Quintabecomes the single source of truth. Delaying the setup of Q-data or Q-storage may result in missing or overwritten images and data on distributor platforms.

How do I set up Q-Sync?

  1. Ensure Q-data is configured with a minimum of 80 facts.
  2. Add room codes for each channel in 14-01 – Accommodation:
    • Hotelbeds: Room Code
    • Expedia: Room Code
    • Booking.com: Room Code
  3. Room codes can be retrieved here:
    https://portfolio-demo.giatamedia.com/portfolio
  4. Organize your photo gallery, add tags, and select a hero image.
  5. Send an email to hotels@giata.com.

The service will be activated within two business days.

What are the image requirements?

  • Minimum: 15 images per property
  • Recommended: 50 images to maximize visibility and conversion
  • Accepted formats: PNG, JPEG, GIF
  • Minimum resolution: 1920 × 1080 pixels
  • Minimum: 5 images per room type

What does “Label in 14-01 – Accommodation” mean?

Labels are used by Expedia and Booking.com to quickly assign room codes when different occupancies are managed as separate room types. This avoids creating multiple entries for the same room and simplifies room code management.

Example:
If a room can accommodate 2, 3, or 4 adults on Booking.com, you can assign all corresponding room codes using the “+” button within the same room entry.

How do I know which data or images are updated for each channel?

Within Q-Sync, you can see whether images or data points are sent to each channel. Keep in mind that distributors decide when and how they consume the data, based on their own rules and schedules.

How can I decide which photos are shared?

All images visible in All Images will be shared with your distributors:
https://console.quinta.im/storage/all-images

How can I choose the primary image?

In All Images, you can select a Hero Image, which will be used as the primary image representing your property.

Can I use Q-Sync If I already work with Giata or anyother content manager?

You can only work with one content manager. In the case of GIATA, since this provider has been designated as your single source of truth, we are unable to modify the content.
